Dear Ashley,
Its your oldest friend, depression. How’s it been? I’ve missed you so much. I’m glad to hear that you are sick because I knew it would be the easiest way to get back into your life.
I’ve missed our long nights of no sleep and endless tears. I’ve missed the sound of your heart breaking every second of every day. Do you remember, Ashley? Do you remember the wonderful negative thoughts you used to have? I’m glad to see that they have come back, stronger than ever.
I love that you feel like a horrible parent and a horrible wife. I love to watch your tears flow as you beg God for mercy.
It’s just you and I, Ashley. Cant you see? We belong together. You and I are one. I will never leave you, nor forsake you. No matter how many pills you take, no matter how many bible scriptures you read, no matter how much you pray, I will always be with you.
Love,
Depression
That was beautiful Ashley, however, I think this depression character has really got you messed up. Sounds more like an Ike & Tina relationship & if you find the strong Tina inside of you, I think you can whoop depressions’ ass. You may be skinny, but I still think you can take him out. Once you’re alone together in the back seat of that car, just light his ass up with a few jabs & bring along Mr. Sparky, the stun gun to finish the job.
Don’t ever forget, you are a great wife, an amazing mother, and an awesome Ashley, because I haven’t met one yet better you.

After years of therapy and meds, this is by far, the best advice I’ve received. Lol. I wont eat the cake, depression! I WONT EAT THE CAKE! Thank you friend!❤️

Anytime friend. Always remember that there is light all around you, from your kids, your husband, & all of the people who genuinely care about you. I know real depression has no rhyme or reason. Even if everything in your life were perfect, you could still have it. It’s ok though. It just means you have to look deeper at the relationships you have & reflect on how truly valuable you are to them. Nothing can be taken for granted, especially your own existence.

Wow. I love this and can empathise completely.
I hope that you’re kicking depression’s butt and proving it so wrong.

Thank you so much! It’s a battle, but I shall win this war. It will not defeat me. Thank you so much again!

With friends like depression, who needs enemies! Depression is the enemy. Tell him to get out in the name of Jesus! I’ve done that before when I was on the floor weeping, and an almost immediate peace flooded my soul.
Praying for you, sister.
You are a good mom. Tell the liar to get lost in Jesus’ name!

Amen! Thank you so much for your kind words. The enemy likes to trick us into thinking we are unworthy, but Yahwehs promises, love, grace and mercy supersedes the enemies lies.

Oh wow! This is beautifully written however I believe you wrote this last year so i’d like to think you tore that letter. You don’t belong together, the tears will stop and I know you are doing the best at being a good mother and wife. You are amazing please, tell depression to stop sending you letters

Thank you for your kind words. I find myself this winning this fight a lot more than I did when I first wrote it. 😁

“Dear Depression:
“I’m on to you. You don’t come from any of the things in my life. You’re not part of the real me at all. You’re something outside of me, feeding on my misery. So, guess what? I’m abandoning you. Yep. I’m not a good friend for you any more. You’ll be doing what I’ve been doing till now. Ah — don’t like that idea, do you? Better go find yourself an easier score, honey, ’cause the honey just turned back to thistles around here. I’m walkin’ out, right now, one step at a time — and you don’t want to come along. Trustmeonthis one. Or don’t. See what happens to ya. None of my concerning more. I hear your voice, from now on my ears ain’t workin’. It’s been nice. NOT!!”
I cried every day for twenty years. I’m not crying now. You can, not, too. 😘
